It's not chillwave, but it sounds like it.

Chilled out dream pop from new zealand, that’s what Wet Wings’ music sounds like. Folky songs, with stretched out vocals in the backgrounds and lovely synths. Wet Wings’ EP Skin to Soil is perfect for a sunny day, but equally as nice for the rainy afternoon. Highly recommended.
Cassettes of Skin to Soil are available through Infinity Tapes. Wet Wings will also release an 11-track album on vinyl on July 4th.
Spectacular cover art. Also, “Cathode Girls”? Sweet Lord.
The much anticipated debut LP by Com Truise drops on July 5 via Ghostly, carrying the best name it could have possibly been given: Galactic Melt.

First of all, this is not at all chillwave. It doesn’t even sound like it! This is shoegaze/dream pop. And it’s damn good, too good to not share.
Miners of Pala is Blake Clee from rural Australia. He’s currently recording from home, but as soon as Blake can get some studio time and some decent band mates, Miners of Pala will record an LP.
“Too many bands are releasing half-arsed material….”
Luckily, the demos are really well done.
There are currently only 6 tracks on the soundcloud and they really deserve a listen or two. Probably more.
Definitely more.

A quirky and very charming piece of lo-fi bedroom pop from the mind of Zach Phillips (also a member of Blanche Blanche Blanche). If you like John Maus or Ariel Pink’s you’ll dig GDC as well. While not as strange as the other two, GDC creates a piece of very sincere music that tilts and lurches in unpredictable ways.
Buy the limited run cassette here from Alchemist Records, I know I will. Also on the page is a free download of Leur Heure.
Don’t let the chillwave crash!
seriously guys, let’s surf it some more.

Following in the vein of posting “things that aren’t chillwave but pretty fucking rad even if we are a chillwavvin’ blog” I present the newest (not totally new but p new anyways) Teams LP - “Dxys Xff”. A glitchy lo-fi piece of nostalgia, beats, and swirlin’ noise from this awesome LA based producer (artist?).
Check it out if you like Star Slinger (Teams has a split with ‘em) or anything similarly loopy/sample-y.
Listen to the whole album for free on bandcamp bro

ps: Show in Long Beach this Friday for anyone lucky enough to be living there.

American producer VEKTROID released a great, ambient-like track. It starts with a beautiful bit-crushed piano loop, that seems to be inspired by Radiohead’s Codex. The track continues with a drumbeat that wouldn’t be entirely out of place on a Boards of Canada track and an arpeggiated synthesizer that hints at the influences of chillwave. It ends with a smooth fade-out of the piano loop, telephone style.
VEKTROID previously released TELNET EROTICA EP, self-described as “toying with the “chillwave” movement, reforming it into a throwback to classic computer culture in this immense lo-fi trip”. You can find it on his Bandcamp. Fans of Tom Cruise will like it.

The Rare Plants Garden are 813 (Alexander Goryachev) and nienvox (Alexander Yefimov), both active in Moscow’s electronic music scene. They released an excellent, self-titled, EP on 12rec, back in february this year. Don’t expect busy songs, with lots of quick synth bleeps and bloops, this is not the stuff 813 usually releases. It’s something else entirely. It’s sounds more like Nienvox’ work, turned into pop songs.
The EP starts with a lo-fi, dream pop/folky song, with some hip hop influences. It proceeds with songs that seem to come straight of Bibio’s Ambivalence Avenue and ends with a very relaxed, almost ambient track. Relaxing electronic beats, Nienvox’ beautiful guitar melodies, 813’s smooth reverbed vocals. Even a guitar solo, this EP has it all.
Their EP is available on 12rec’s Bandcamp. Highly recommended.
